[AFA] 2018 Paths to JOs and Summer Nationals
As we start the new season, it’s a good idea to review the paths to get to Junior Olympics and Summer Nationals/July Challenge. Each year USA Fencing makes a few changes here and there to the process. Most fencers qualify at their Division’s JO qualifier (North Carolina’s is set for December 8-9) and Summer National’s qualifier, but there are other paths as well. The next most common is the regional route. If you a Y10, Y12 or Y14 fencer, points from your best 3 events count. If you’re a Cadet or Junior, it’s the top 2 finishes. Of course, you can find the full details in the Athlete’s Handbook.
The good folks at Academy of Fencing Masters have sifted through the details and generated an awesome infographic showing you the way to USA Fencing Summer Nationals Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
We’ve included all the regional events as well as NACs and our own tournaments on our calendar.
We hope to see you all in Denver (Junior Olympics) and Columbus (Summer Nationals/July Challenge)
